Peer Outdoor Education for Mental Health (P.O.E.M)

Peer Outdoor Education for Mental Health (POEM) is a peer support specialist training program that will take place at Jubilee Healing Farm during the 2024-2025 academic year for community college, undergraduate or graduate students who identify as Black, have lived experience of mental illness or substance abuse, and have a passion for supporting others in their healing journey. Individuals taking a gap year are also welcome. The program offers state certification as a peer support specialist combined with Jubilee training in transformative justice, herbalism, mindfulness, yoga, music therapy and ancestral healing.

POEM aims to train and support a generation of Black community healers to address the disparity in mental health that is causing Black students to leave their education at a higher rate than other groups. POEM seeks to create communities healing, to change lives, and to change the world.
