Elder Wisdom Spring Equinox Divination

🪶In our Elder Wisdom ritual, I always draw a card that offers medicine to orient us toward liberation in our field of practice. This time, I pulled to the "Harvest" card; it was much-needed Earth medicine in Pisces season.

🪶This is the ancestral wisdom that came through: Although it may seem hard to believe, we are living in a season of harvest. As we face empires of domination, harm, and oppressive systems, we are harvesting the fruits of generational movements toward collective liberation. Our tools of resistance and the fractals of healed realities we exist within are part of the harvest, as are the new tools blooming in the imaginations and hearts of those inspired to root themselves within lineages of love and liberation.

🪶Pulsing rhythms and echoes of call and response between grief and grace, joy and heartbreak, and life and death punctuate the harvest season. Our participation in this harvest enables our collective survival in what ancestor Lorde calls "the mouth of the dragon." To that end, each of us is responsible for giving back every drop of nourishment we receive from the harvest and then some to ensure future kin will be nourished.

🪶Tend the soil by engaging the world and one another with love, especially when you have every reason not to.

🪶May your words be cool water for the seeds of liberation. May the garden spade of your actions uproot what is invasive to your soul's soil. May old thought patterns become compost, and may the light of your spirit shine like the sun coaxing emergent and generative realities out of their protective seed coats of dreaming and into the mystery of being. May your life be the most prolific seed of liberation you cast.

we will not grieve in isolation

Allowing ourselves to be companioned in our grief by our ancestors and unseen kin is a practice of vulnerability and deep intimacy.

May we all feel safe enough to practice sharing our grief with our ancestors and our unseen elders.

May we be led by the collective choreographies of our grieving toward generative lifeways and rituals that articulate our love of life and the insistence that our grieving be held in deep ecology.

On March 12th, Elder Wisdom, a two-hour ritual container intended to support us in connecting with our ancestral ecosystems, unseen kin, and elder wisdom fields, opens. This ritual of connecting with our ancestors and unseen elders in times of deep suffering and grief is a love offering to our nervous systems, our hearts, the earth, and all of our kin-folk displaced and suffering at the hands of oppressive systems.

Our intuition connects us to ancestral wisdom

Our intuitive wisdom co-exists in relationship with the wisdom of our ancestors and all of our relations.

These bodies of knowledge are not separate; they are intimately entangled, interdependent, decentralized fields of wisdom feeding and informing one another.

Collectively, they weave expansive tapestries of wisdom across generations, relations, species, and time. We call these collective tapestries our elder wisdom fields.

Elder Wisdom: Rooting in Lineages of Liberation a 5 Month Deep Dive

Ancestral work, including connection, healing, veneration, and repair, is not rooted in theoretical praxis. Every day, moment to moment, breath to breath, there are ongoing invitations to cultivate the hands-on and embodied skills required to tend our ancestral relations. These invitations emerge in the daily rhythms of daily life, how we relate to ourselves, one another, and the world at large.

Often, some of the most challenging aspects of engaging in our ancestral work are slowing down to perceive the invitations unfolding before us and trusting the embodied ancestral wisdom that lives in us.
These challenges exist by design to sustain systems of domination and oppression. And we are conditioned to take individual responsibility for the deficits they attempt to create in our relationships.

We can develop the relational skills to meet these challenges; the blueprints for these skills live in our bodies. Let’s gather, slow down, and invoke and explore the wisdom of our ancestors rooted in lineages of liberation through kaleidoscopes of curiosity and radical imagination.

Elder Wisdom Invites us to Engage

As we withness global genoc1de and oppress1on and the violent legacies of colonialism, we must develop praxis for tending our inner landscapes so that we can offer that which is generative to our worlds. Now is the time to trust the wisdom of our grieving bodies, which signals that something is amiss in our worlds. Our responses to our current conditions must also come from the interiority of our inner landscapes, from those parts of ourselves that are unyielding to the brutality of colonialism, from the integrity of internal architectures shaped by the generational wisdom of our elders, ancestors, lineages, kin and future descendants.

Our bodies are ecological beings informed by our collective ecologies and ecosystems. As we practice trusting and centering the body's wisdom, we move into deeper layers of connection with these ecosystems. And invite whole ecosystems and layers of lineage to shape our responses and resource our liberation practices. What we practice and how we practice catalyzes change and transformation. In these times of deep change, collective grief & revolution, we offer our field of practice, Elder Wisdom.

In this offering, we affirm that our collective ability to practice embodying love and liberation is part of how we dismantle oppressive systems in our worlds and our bodies. And we invoke every layer of ancestral resource that desires to support us on this journey.

We offer a glimpse into the pillars that have supported us in deepening our connections with our ancestral ecosystems as we continue exploring the practice of embodying love and liberation in this lifetime.

For folks who wish to engage in a field of practice rooted in love and liberation and shaped by curiosity, these are foundational aspects of what we offer in Elder Wisdom.
